Detailed Photos + Flat Lays
What is a flat lay?
A flat lay is a photo laying all of your details on a flat surface (ground, table, board) and taking the photo from above.
Flat lays, also often referred to as the detailed photos, are often used to showcase wedding invitations, but can also include:
- Perfume
- Earrings
- Necklaces
- Shoes
- Flowers
- Boutonnieres
- Vow booklets
- Ring box
- Anything with your name, new last name, his, hers, ours, etc. on it
- And more
PRO TIP: Collect all of these items in a pile or box the night before the wedding so when the photographer arrives the day of it will all be prepared. Many times, photographers will take the detailed shots as soon as they arrive.
These are often “styled” or decorated with items that align with your color theme, but are not necessary:
- Ribbon
- Ring box
- Dried Fruit
- Colored stones/rocks
- Vintage Stamps
- Flower Petals
- And More
PRO TIP: Ask your photographer if they provide any flat lay items or if you need to purchase them. Some photographers may have a kit they bring to shoot with, others may not.
